Seven Things I’ve Learnt About Writing Poetry

I’ve been writing poetry since I was seventeen years old. The first poem I wrote was inspired by the huge window halfway down the stairs in my childhood home. I could see it night from my bed. It both terrified me and interested me. Not being able to see out when the light was on, but there being nothing to see when the light was off. It was a rubbish poem, but the first of many.
